Kent Guion
Professor
Dr. Guion is a Professor of Public Health in the College of Health and Human Services and served as the inaugural Chief Diversity Officer at the University of North Carolina Wilmington from 2015-2020. Before this appointment he served as the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion at Georgia Regents University and Georgia Regents Hospital, Interim Dean of the College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS) and Associate Dean for Student, Faculty and Community Affairs. He received his M.D. and M.A. specializing in Exercise Physiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School and completed a fellowship in Clinical Epidemiology and General Primary Care at Duke University Medical Center. His professional interests include the areas of cultural competency, physical activity and public health, and implementing solutions to health disparities.

Research Interests
Research interests include the areas of cultural competency in healthcare, physical activity epidemiology, and implementing solutions to health disparities. He is currently the Co-PI of the Creative Storytelling with Dementia Patients project.
