Associate Professor

I was born in Taizhou, Jiangsu China. After I finished my master’s degree in Soil Sciences, I started my journey with Geography focusing on the applications of Geographic information science on various topics. When I am not conducting research or teaching, I enjoy cooking, hiking, and playing with my cat.

Education

Ph.D. in Geography, University of South Carolina, Columbia, Sc, Usa, August 2007 - December 2013
M.S. in Soil Science, Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy Of Sciences, Nanjing, Jiangsu, China, September 2004 - May 2007
B.S. in Agriculture, Yangzhou University, Yangzhou, Jiangsu, China, September 2000 - May 2004

Specialization in Teaching

GGY 321: Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
GGY 521 / GGY 421: Spatial Programming
GGY 523 / GGY 423: GIS Modeling

Research Interests

I have a broad background in the disciplines of landscape ecology, biogeography, climate, and soil sciences. My research has examined wildfires, climate extremes (heavy precipitation, flooding, and drought), bio-conservation, landslides, and soil salinity. I am particularly interested in the applications of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, spatial data mining, and statistical methods to address theoretical and applied questions of these topics.
