Brandon T. Frensley

Associate Professor and Applied Learning Coordinator

Dr. B. Troy Frensley is an Associate Professor in the Environmental Sciences (EVS) Department at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Troy's research focuses on environmental education, participatory science, program evaluation, ocean literacy, and informal STEM learning. He works on interdisciplinary teams and seeks bridge research, theory, and practice to support the development and delivery of effective programs, experiences, and collaborations designed to address complex environmental issues. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses and also serves as the Applied Learning Coordinator for the EVS Department. Troy has been with the Department since 2018. Specialization in Teaching

My teaching is broadly focused on the social sciences with an emphasis on environmental education, environmental nonprofit organizations, program evaluation/research methods, and solving complex environmental problems. I teach upper-level undergraduate and graduate-level courses which are hands-on, project-based, and focus on student application of evolving knowledge, attitudes, self-efficacy, and skills.
