Steven Elliott
Director/Professor
Steve Elliott's academic career began in 2003 at Georgia Southern University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health and Kinesiology. In 2006, he returned to his alma mater, UNC Wilmington, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health and Applied Human Sciences at UNCW. After four years at UNCW, he was promoted to Associate Professor and awarded tenure. In 2010, his academic unit evolved from a department into a school (SHAHS). As part of this transition, he moved into the administrative position of Associate Director in 2011. In 2017, he was named the Director of the School of Health & Applied Human Sciences, overseeing undergraduate programs in Exercise Science; Healthful Living & Fitness Education; Public Health; Tourism, Recreation & Sport; Recreation Therapy; and Respiratory Therapy, and graduate programs in Healthcare Administration, Athletic Training, and Gerontology. The University's Wellness and Physical Activity requirement is also housed within the SHAHS.
