Research Interests

As a computational cognitive psychologist, I develop and test quantitative models of cognitive, social, developmental, clinical, and perceptual processes. These theory-based models are designed to predict group and individual behavior, across developmental stages and cultures. One focus is my quantitative model of value and the cognitive processes that lead to preferential choice, termed Psychological Value Theory.
Another is modeling the cognitive processes associated with understanding and use of numbers. My laboratory applies these models to various research problems (e.g., morality, economics, clinical assessments, mate choice, impulsivity, and more) through international and inter-disciplinary collaborations. Much of this work is dependent on specialized software that I program and open source for use by the scientific community.
