Maggie Bannon

Director of Academic Advising

Dr. Maggie Bannon is the Director of Academic Advising for the College of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts (CHSSA). She leads a team of dedicated primary-role advisors in the CHSSA Academic Resource Center (ARC). The ARC team provides holistic advising support for undergraduate students in CHSSA. Holistic advising considers all facets of a student’s life when assisting them to achieve their academic and career goals. She works with partners across campus to ensure that students get connected to resources and supports to enhance their UNCW experience. She is also the advisor for the Interdisciplinary Studies major, a unique degree program specifically created for former stopped-out students. Maggie enjoys working with students to help them find a career path that complements their strengths and passions.

Maggie joined UNCW in 2006 as an advisor and learning community coordinator for University College, now known as the Center for Academic Advising. She joined the former College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Office in 2016, serving as an Advising Coordinator and later the Assistant Director. Before joining UNCW, she was an academic advisor and learning specialist working with student-athletes at Marshall University.
