Chausette D Arenal
Temporary EHRA/Faculty
Chausette D. Arenal brings over two decades of dedicated service to California’s educational landscape, specializing in supporting second language learners from more than 30 linguistic and cultural backgrounds — a testament to her deep commitment to multicultural education and linguistic diversity.
She began her teaching journey with a CLAD-certified California teaching credential from California State University, Monterey Bay. This credential laid the foundation for her inclusive and culturally responsive teaching practices, equipping her to support English learners effectively and demonstrating her early dedication to multiculturalism in education.
Before joining University of North Carolina Wilmington, Chausette expanded her international experience by participating in a pilot program, where she trained educators in Costa Rica in English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction. This initiative deepened her passion for language learning and cross-cultural understanding, allowing her to collaborate in a bilingual and bicultural context. Chausette later earned her Master of Education from UNCW, further enhancing her expertise in curriculum development and educational leadership.
Her global perspective informs a teaching philosophy that fosters inclusive environments where students feel seen, heard, and empowered to thrive — both academically and personally.
