Others Attending: Dr. Johnson Akinleye, Ms. Sharon Boyd, Ms. Lisa Castellino, Dr. Terry Curran, Ms. Dana Harris, Ms. Suzanne Helms, Ms. Cindy Lawson, Dr. Steve Meinhold and Dr. Nathan Lindsay.

Chancellor DePaolo called the meeting to order at 2:00 pm.

The minutes of the January 26 meeting were approved as posted on the Web.

Dr. Spackman presented the Seven-Year Dashboard of Progress 2003-04 to 2009-10, which had been presented to the UNCW Board of Trustees and had been the subject of recent positive news media coverage, and the Spring 2010 Annual Progress Measures Dashboard.

Dr. Spackman proposed a common format for Vision 2020 committees to present their work. Several suggestions for improvement emerged from the discussion, and the amended version will be sent to all Vision 2020 committee members.

Dr. McFarland led a discussion on refinements to the developing Undergraduate Research Involvement (URI) Index. The nature of URI activities has been clarified as extracurricular in nature and beyond the traditional involvement of students in classroom instruction (except for Honors or Directed Individual Study involving mentored research). They focus on some aspect of research or artistic achievement of an exceptional or distinctive nature appropriate to the academic discipline of the faculty mentor. Concerns expressed for the first time centered on URI system security, transcript integrity and faculty burden. It was agreed that a prototype demonstration and examples of transcripting extracurricular academic activities from other institutions might be helpful.

Chancellor DePaolo commended the Cameron School of Business on the success of its just-completed AACSB accreditation visit. The reviews were laudatory, cited numerous best practices, and commended the faculty of the Cameron School and the quality of their students. Applause followed.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:25 pm.
