ELEVATE Leadership Summit: February 23rd through February 25th, 2018

ELEVATE Leadership SummitThe Office of Student Leadership and Engagement is excited to host the 2nd annual ELEVATE Leadership Summit, on February 15-17th, 2019 at Camp Kirkwood in Watha, North Carolina.

What is ELEVATE?

Built on a foundation of Kouzes and Posner’s Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership, this Leadership Summit encourages students to explore the relationships, choices, and challenges of leadership. Participants will use reflection, discussion, and dynamic team challenges to take their leadership to the next level. This program is open to current sophomores and juniors looking to deepen their understanding of leadership and bring their new knowledge back to their campus communities.

Cost and Lodging

The total cost of the program is $100 per participant. This includes transportation, meals, lodging, supplies, and on-site activities. All participants submit a $20 non-refundable registration fee to participate, and are encouraged to identify a campus sponsor for the remaining $80 for the program. OSLE will sponsor a limited number of student participants who aren’t able to find a campus sponsor.

Camp Kirkwood is a YMCA facility located 30 minutes north of Wilmington in Watha, NC. Participants will enjoy outdoor activities, including a low and high ropes course, campfires, and outdoor recreation like fishing and basketball. Cabins are heated for a comfortable stay, each with a bathroom, showers, and multiple bunk beds. Camp also offers WiFi in the main areas, and plenty of beautiful lounge areas.

Program Registration

Registration for students is now open and will close January 31st, 2019. However, the program fills on a first-come, first-serve basis, and spots are limited. To register, complete the registration form below and submit your non-refundable $20 deposit. Registration forms and fee must be submitted in person to the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement, Suite 2029 in the Fisher Student Center, between the hours of 8-5pm Monday through Friday. Deposits may be cash or check. Checks may be made to the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement.

Nominations and Sponsorships

Departments, organizations, and employers across campus and off campus are encouraged to sponsor students to participate in ELEVATE. Please consider connecting your students and peers to this program in the following ways:

Nominations: Encourage a student or peer to participate! Submit your nomination by complete this form. Once you nominate a student to participate, OSLE will reach out to notify the student of their nomination with information about our upcoming Interest Meeting and registration details.

Sponsorships: Consider financially sponsoring a student to participate in ELEVATE. Each sponsorship is $80, with the sponsored student providing the $20 non-refundable registration fee. This covers the cost of lodging, meals, transportation, and activities on site. To sponsor, utilize the nomination form above, and submit your sponsorship form here.

Small Group Facilitators

Participants are split into small groups during the summit, with staff and graduate assistants serving as Small Group Facilitators. We’re in need of faculty, staff, and graduate students to serve in this role! Anyone interested should complete this interest form by November 30th. Please consult with your supervisor first before completing the interest form.
