PDS Hosts Partnership Teacher Celebration

During the spring semester, 200 Watson College students successfully completed internships in area schools. UNCW/3C Hosts Aspiring Leaders Summit at Craven Community College

UNCW held a two-day professional development event in partnership with Craven Community College in April. The Aspiring Leaders’ Summit, offered through the UNCW Community College Collaborative, covered topics including budgeting, conflict resolution and the staff to administration transition. NC STEM Ecosystem Continues Leap into Science Program

A group of STEM leaders from organizations across the state, including STEM SENC, was selected to join the Leap Into Science Cohort 3 in 2019. Leap into Science is a program developed by The Franklin Institute to build young children’s interest and skills in science and literacy. The NC Leap Into Science State Leadership Team recently received funding to continue the program through 2021. more...

Melissa Raymer, Wilson Okello Support Literacy at D.C. Virgo

Melissa Raymer has received a grant from the American Association of School Librarians and a Mathical Book Prize Collection Development Award to support literacy initiatives at D.C. Virgo. Raymer and Wilson Okello have received TEO mini-grants to purchase books for D.C. Virgo students. more...

PDS Hosts Professional Learning Events for Partnership Teachers

WCE’s PDS Office holds Professional Learning Days each semester for site coordinators and partnership teachers hosting interns from the Watson College. Fulbright Fellows Creatively Explore the Question, “Why Teach?”

UNCW welcomed thirteen international fellows from the Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program to Wilmington in January. Over the course of six weeks, the fellows participated in academic studies and workshops, virtual field experiences and cultural exchanges. Harris Muhlstein is Guest Speaker at Foldscope Live Workshop

MarineQuest School Programs Coordinator Harris Muhlstein led a Foldscope Live workshop on February 16. The workshop, titled “Investigating Plankton and Harmful Algae with Foldscope!” was the 16th episode in a series of live online experiences filmed with presenters from all over the world. Foldscope introduced the series in May 2020 to help people stay connected to science during the global pandemic. more...
