Thursday, January 02, 2020

Michelle Hafey has been selected for the 2020-2022 cohort of the NCSLA Science Leadership Fellows Program. The program is designed to foster the development of science education leaders in North Carolina. The North Carolina Science Leadership Association leads the program with support from the North Carolina Science, Mathematics and Technology Education Center.
Hafey joined UNCW in June 2017 as a program associate in UNCW’s Center for Education in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, where she coordinates CESTEM’s Technology Loan Program and student competitions. She has a degree in business administration, more than 20 years of middle school science experience and national board certification. She is also a Kenan Fellow, a program recognized nationally as a model for industry-education partnerships to advance K-12 STEM education.
As a Science Leadership Fellow, Hafey will participate in quarterly summits focused on leadership development, consensus building, grant writing and the effective use of technology. She will also attend NCSLA/NCSTA annual conferences, held each year in November.
“I am honored to be selected for the NCSLA Leadership Fellows Program,” Hafey said. “It’s a great program that provides the opportunity to network and build partnerships with science educators across the state.”
