Engineering Expectations Visits WAAS

Monday, January 01, 2018

Youth Programs’ engineers Kathy Ibbotson and Jasmine Gaston visited Wilmington Academy of Arts and Sciences on Jan. 25, where they taught seventh graders about circuits and computer programming using Arduinos. The sixth graders used Spheros to explore computer programming and the engineering design process.

The program was offered as part of UNCW’s Engineering Expectations’ school program, Engineering On-the-Go. School programs, offered from September to May, are designed to help teachers put the “E” in STEM, with hands-on engineering activities that are based on state and national standards.
