Thursday, January 04, 2018

Donyell Roseboro was a panelist at the Martin Luther King Day celebration at the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture in Charlotte. The panel event titled, “What Are You Willing to Sacrifice?” focused on the intersection of education and activism.

Roseboro is associate dean of Teacher Education and Outreach at the Watson College. Other panelists were Toussaint Romain, assistant Mecklenburg County public defender and Braxton Winston, member of the Charlotte City Council.

Roseboro was quoted in the Jan. 16 WBTV story, Charlotte speakers say King's legacy is built through education and critical thinking. “Young people may forget that Martin Luther King Jr. was not just a protest leader but a prolific writer who earned a doctorate and strategized carefully. ‘You can be a scholar activist,’” she said.
