WCE Faculty and Staff Celebrate Krysti Adams’ Award and Recognition

Sunday, September 03, 2017

Congratulations to Krysti Adams! She was one of 14 UNCW staff members recognized by Chancellor Jose V. Sartarelli for exemplary service at the university’s annual Staff Awards celebration in September.

Jeff Ertzberger, Brian Brinkley and Susan Finley nominated Adams for the UNCW award. They cited her creativity, technical expertise and impeccable quality, matched only by an unselfish, collaborative spirit.

“Individual faculty members often acknowledge the ‘small miracles’ Krysti performs every day but her broader contributions and the collective impact she makes are under-recognized due to the wide range of her work, the diverse audiences she serves and her seamless execution,” they wrote. “She makes it all seem so easy.”

Kathy Fox, chair of WCE’s Department of EEMLS, acknowledged the breadth and depth of Adams’ achievements.

“Krysti has risen to the occasion for all of the challenges our department has brought to her. She does her work with a smile and with a constant eye to integrity. She is an invaluable partner,” Fox said.

Krysti also had cross-campus support for her award nomination.

Andrea Weaver, deputy director of UNCW’s Office of University Relations, said, “Krysti defines the UNCW spirit. She is an outgoing person who welcomes collaboration and eagerly shares her knowledge and expertise with others. She is enthusiastic about her work on behalf of the Watson College of Education, and she is willing to go the extra mile to achieve excellence in everything she does.”

Adams joined the staff at WCE in 2003. In her role as senior web developer, graphic designer and multimedia developer, she is responsible for developing and managing over 150 websites and eight public interactive kiosks. She also designs all WCE print publications and collateral, coordinates social media, and supports technology special project requests for 100 faculty and staff members of the Watson College.

Watson College dean Van Dempsey, ETU director Jeff Ertzberger, Ed Lab director Brian Brinkley and WCE and ETU staff members joined Adams at the awards ceremony, held at the Burney Center on Sept. 13.
