WCE’s KDP Chapter Recognized for Membership Growth

Friday, June 02, 2017

UNCW’s chapter of Kappa Delta Pi has received national recognition for outstanding membership growth. KDP is an international honor society dedicated to scholarship and excellence in education. The Alpha Alpha Pi Chapter at UNCW added 51 new members during the 2016-17 academic year.

KDP offers members the opportunity to network with other pre-service teachers and to represent the Watson College and the teaching profession through leadership, professionalism and service.

KDP member selection is based on high academic achievement, a commitment to education as a career and a professional attitude that assures steady growth in the profession. Members include undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in on-campus and distance learning programs. Watson College students must have a 3.5 grade point average or higher to be eligible.

Faculty members Jaci Dempsey and Marsha Carr are co-counselors of UNCW’s KDP chapter.

Kappa Delta Pi was founded in 1911 and has since grown to include 600 chapters with approximately 60,000 members worldwide. UNCW’s chapter was installed in 1980.
