PDS Hosts Professional Learning Days for Partnership Teachers

Wednesday, March 01, 2017

Forty-five middle grades and secondary partnership teachers and partner principals participated in a professional learning day at the Watson College on March 13. The event was the second in a series titled, “Engage and Empower: Teaching and Learning for ALL Students.”

A second professional learning day was held on March 16 for 120 early childhood and elementary school partnership teachers and site coordinators.

Kimberly McLaughlin-Smith, diversity and inclusion specialist with UNCW’s Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion was keynote speaker at both events. The events featured presentations by Watson College faculty and guest speakers, and faculty-led roundtable discussions.

The professional learning days are offered each semester to PDS partnership teachers hosting interns from the Watson College. WCE’s Professional Development System Office coordinates the events.
