Graduate School Open House Held at the Watson College

Tuesday, November 08, 2016

UNCW’s Graduate School hosted an Open House on Oct. 13 to showcase programs offered at the master’s and doctoral level. Certificate and add-on licensure programs were also featured.

More than 120 prospective students attended the event, which was held in the atrium of the Watson College of Education building.

Attendees were greeted by Watson Student Leaders and graduate school volunteers, and had an opportunity to meet program coordinators, graduate faculty and students. Representatives from financial aid and UNCW’s Office of Military Affairs were also available to answer questions and provide information on programs like Troops to Teachers.

Kimberly Harris, coordinator of graduate admissions in UNCW’s Graduate School, coordinated the open house event.

“Faculty and current graduate student participation was again the key to success at our second Graduate School Open House,” Harris said.  “Attendees said the opportunity to speak face-to-face with faculty and students was very valuable.”

UNCW is among the top-ranked public, master's-focused universities in the South and offers four doctoral and 29 master’s degree programs, as well as certificate, add-on-licensure and non-degree options. More than 1,800 students are currently enrolled in the university’s graduate programs.

The Watson College of Education offers Master of Education (M.Ed.) and add-on licensure programs in many specializations for teachers looking to improve knowledge and expertise in a given field. Additional masters programs are offered in school administration, curriculum and instruction, instructional technology and higher education. A doctoral program is also offered in educational leadership.
