On March 7, UNCW’s Career Center hosted a job fair for Watson College students. The event provided an opportunity for pre-service teachers to meet with representatives from school districts throughout the region and state to discuss teaching opportunities in grades pre-K through 12.

Representatives from 68 school districts participated in the job fair, held in the Burney Center. The event was attended by 165 Watson College students.

Prior to the fair, six school representatives participated in a panel discussion held in Lumina Theater. Panelists included school principals and human resources representatives from Duplin, New Hanover and Wake County Schools, Newton-Conover City Schools and National Heritage Academies.

Diane Reed, assistant director of the Career Center, said she was especially pleased with student participation at the expert panel event.

“Over 150 students attended and actively asked questions about resumes, interviewing, personal and professional fit with a school and expectations,” Reed said. “Feedback from students following the event was very positive.”
