Having moved from Ontario, Canada, during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Michelle Kerr's initial Seahawk experiences were remote, with classes held online and few opportunities to connect in person. However, she was determined to find her place on campus. She became a member of UNCW Seabelles, an a cappella group, and became active in Brush of Empowerment, a campus organization dedicated to raising awareness about domestic violence and supporting local women's shelters.
