UNCW is excited to offer 200 faculty and staff members the opportunity to participate in a pilot program evaluating ChatGPT. The pilot will run through April 1, 2027 and will explore how generative AI can support teaching, research, administration and daily productivity across campus.
What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) assistant that can help streamline everyday tasks, improve productivity and support teaching, research and administrative work. By participating in the pilot, faculty and staff can gain hands-on experience with AI tools while helping UNCW evaluate their value across campus.
Pilot Participation
As a participant, you can expect to:
- Receive a ChatGPT license for university-related work
- Explore ways AI can improve productivity and streamline tasks
- Participate in feedback opportunities led by ITS
- Share your ideas, successes, challenges, and questions with others in a Microsoft Teams site (created and managed by ITS).
Be Part of Our Pilot
Faculty and staff interested in joining the pilot program can complete the interest survey. Participation is limited to 200 users and licenses will be assigned at the start of each business day on a first-come, first-served basis until all licenses are claimed.
After you receive your license, follow the instructions in the ChatGPT knowledge base article to get started.
Responsible and Secure AI Use
UNCW encourages the responsible and ethical use of AI technologies while maintaining appropriate data protection and privacy practices. Faculty and staff should continue to follow university guidance regarding institutional, confidential, and protected information when using AI tools.
