Workers' Compensation Fraud Alert

The North Carolina Industrial Commission (NCIC) is warning of a multi-state fraud scheme targeting injured workers. Scammers are posing as judges, government officials, attorneys, and workers’ compensation professionals and are requesting payments in exchange for benefits or settlements. The scheme has targeted Spanish-speaking claimants in particular. Key reminders include:

Injured workers should never pay money to receive workers’ compensation benefits or settlements.

Suspected fraud should be reported to NCIC.

NCIC does not contact claimants through text messages, video calls, or social media.  Below is their link.
