Future Teacher Conference – April 17

The Future Teacher Conference invites high school, community college and home school students to spend a day at UNCW exploring education as a career. Participants will experience life as a Watson student through interactive sessions led by faculty and staff, tailored to students’ interests. Back by popular demand, the event also features a student panel discussion. The conference is free and will be held April 17.

School administrators interested in bringing a group of students, or students interested in attending should contact Dean Heath at heatht@uncw.edu.


Spark of Joy – April 17

The Teaching with Joy Network is building community among educators with presentations, professional development, and ‘Spark of Joy’ meet-ups.

The next “Spark of Joy” teacher meet-up will be held at Wilmington Brewing Company on Friday, April 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Educators PK-20 interested in bringing more joy into their classrooms and their lives are invited to attend.


STEM Expo – April 25

Dive into discovery at the Coastal & Marine STEM Expo at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, part of the North Carolina Science Festival. This free, family-friendly event features hands-on activities inspired by our coast, oceans and marine environments. The expo will be held April 25 from 10 a.m. to noon in UNCW’s Sayed Hall.

Soar Into STEM Conference — June 11

PK-12 educators are invited to a day of inspiration, collaboration and hands-on learning at CESTEM’s annual STEM Education Conference. This year’s theme, “SOAR into STEM: Lead the Adventure,” highlights innovative approaches to STEM teaching and learning. The conference will be held on Thursday, June 11 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at UNCW’s Watson College of Education, Sayed Hall.
