UNCW Homecoming Brunch – February 14

Reconnect with your former professors and classmates during homecoming weekend in February!

An annual favorite is the Homecoming Brunch which features great food and a showcase from all UNCW academic areas. The event will be held at UNCW’s Burney Center on Saturday, February 14 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. We hope to see you there!

Challenging the Paradigm Conference – February 19-20

UNCW’s Watson College will host the 2026 UNCW/3C Challenging the Paradigm Conference February 19-20 on the UNCW campus. The theme of the event is “Partnerships for Seamless Pathways.”

 The conference brings together community college faculty and staff, university faculty and staff, and others who are interested in learning, growing, and challenging the paradigm with innovative and transformative practices. The 2026 event will focus on:

  • Innovative pathways programming
  • Adult learner initiatives
  • Innovation that reduces barriers to smooth transition and transfer
  • Partnerships that enhance and increase successful transitions to degrees and life-long learning

Spark of Joy – February 27

The Teaching with Joy Network is building community among educators with presentations, professional development, and ‘Spark of Joy’ meet-ups.

The next “Spark of Joy” teacher meet-up will be held at Wilmington Brewing Company on Friday, February 27 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Educators PK-20 interested in bringing more joy into their classrooms and their lives are invited to attend.


Regional Science Olympiad – March 7

CESTEM proudly hosts the Wilmington Regional Science Olympiad Tournament at UNCW.

The tournament is a rigorous academic interscholastic competition that consists of a series of different hands-on, challenging and inquiry-based events that are balanced between the disciplines of biology, earth science, environmental science, chemistry, physics, engineering and technology.

Regional SeaPerch Challenge​ - March 14

CESTEM will host the Wilmington Regional SeaPerch Competition at UNCW on March 14. SeaPerch is an aquatic robotics competition for middle and high school students. Teams build a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and engage in the engineering design process to prepare their device for underwater pool challenges.

Future Teacher Conference – April 17

The Future Teacher Conference invites high school, community college and home school students to spend a day at UNCW exploring education as a career. Participants will experience life as a Watson student through interactive sessions led by faculty and staff, tailored to students’ interests. Back by popular demand, the event also features a student panel discussion. The conference is free and will be held April 17.

School administrators interested in bringing a group of students, or students interested in attending should contact Dean Heath at heatht@uncw.edu.
