School Supplies Giveaway - August 16-17

A school supplies giveaway for Wilmington-area public school students and teachers will be held at D.C. Virgo Preparatory Academy on August 16-17, hosted by The Wilmington Interdenominational Ministers’ Alliance (WIMA).

• Friday, Aug. 16: Wilmington-area public school teachers are invited to stop by D.C. Virgo from 3-6 p.m. for a Teacher’s Appreciation event featuring free school supplies, food and fun.
• Saturday, Aug. 17: Families with children who attend Wilmington-area public schools are invited from 12-3 p.m. to pick up a free backpack, school supplies and enjoy festivities with music provided by Bigg B.

“This is WIMA’s 11^th annual back-to-school event,” said Kristie Ford, project manager on behalf of WIMA. “Over the years, we gave out more than 15,000 bookbags to public school families and last year we celebrated 300 public school teachers with a school supply giveaway at our Teacher Appreciation event. We are excited to partner with UNCW, D.C. Virgo, local companies, and faith-based organizations to support public school students and families as they embark on a new school year once again this year.”

D.C. Virgo Preparatory Academy is located at 814 Nixon Street in downtown Wilmington.

Festivities include live music, photos with UNCW’s mascot Sammy C. Hawk, food trucks and more.
