Elizabeth Crawford Appointed to CE International Board

WCE professor Elizabeth Crawford has been appointed to Childhood Educational International’s Board of Directors. CE International announced the news in a press release on May 29.

“We are thrilled to welcome Elizabeth O. Crawford to the Board of Directors,” said Diane Whitehead, President and CEO of CE International. “She brings a wealth of experience and expertise in education and international development to this position. We are grateful to Elizabeth for her willingness to serve in this role and look forward to collaborating with her to build bright futures for all children worldwide.”

Crawford has more than 20 years of experience in K12 and higher education and international development as an educator, researcher, and advocate for quality education for all children. She is a professor of elementary education at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, specializing in curriculum design, teacher education, and global education. Her research and teaching are focused on promising practices that nurture teachers’ and students’ global competence.

She is a past Global Teacher Education Fellow sponsored by the Longview Foundation and Girl Rising Educator Cohort Leader. She currently serves as a HundrED Ambassador, a member of the Advisory Council of the Institute for Humane Education, and an education consultant at the World Bank in the East Asia and Pacific region, where she supports research and provides technical assistance on early childhood policy and practice, teacher qualifications, and climate change education.

“As a board member, I look forward to supporting Childhood Education International’s mission to ensure that all children have access to quality education,” Crawford said. “The organization’s programs and projects are innovative, reach a global audience, and always center the needs of children, families, and teachers. I will no doubt learn and be inspired by the talented and committed team at CE International.”

Since 1892, CE International has been committed to ensuring that all children worldwide have access to quality education.

Crawford was appointed to the Board of Directors alongside three other new members: Andre Eaton, Celina Cereceres, and Lucy Recio. This brings the total number of board members to 15.
