Jennifer Park, assistant professor of Instructional Technology, received the Richard Cornell Award at the 2023 Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) International Conference.

Dr. Park is the first recipient of this award, created to honor the late Dr. Cornell from the University of Central Florida who was dedicated to assisting international graduate students and an active member of AECT’s International Division. Dr. Park was selected for her work supporting students pursuing a degree in educational technology.

Park joined the faculty at UNCW in 2022 after earning her Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology at Indiana University. Her research focuses on innovations in the workplace, artificial intelligence, online training and development, mentoring and instructional design.

Dr. Park is an award-winning scholar, and this is the fifth award she has received while at UNCW. Previous recognitions include the AECT McClusky Award, Mendel Sherman Award, AVC Award, Achaea Beechler Fellowship, GPSG Award, Larson Award, AHRD Start Up Grant and AHRD Best Paper Award. She was selected as the 2022-2023 Open Educational Resources (OER) Research Fellow of the Open Education Group sponsored by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. In May 2023, she received the Distinguished Dissertation Award from the International Society for Performance Improvement, an award given annually to the most impactful doctoral dissertation in performance technology. Dr. Park's dissertation is entitled, "The relationships among sustainable work environment, human agency, openness to change, and innovative work behavior."

The Association for Educational Communications and Technology, the pioneering professional organization for instructional designers, is dedicated to fostering innovation in learning methodologies. AECT’s International Division facilitates communication among educational technology professionals and students worldwide.
