Brian Davis, professor in the UNCW Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography, is the recipient of the 2025 Fainting Robin Foundation Distinguished Scholar Award.

The award recognizes Davis’s groundbreaking research in theoretical atomic physics and archaeoastronomy and his 43 years of teaching physics and astronomy at UNCW.

Fainting Robin Foundation provides financial support to independent scholars, writers and thinkers whose work falls outside the mainstream. The foundation is a scholar-led, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that rewards genuinely independent intellectual work.

“Brian Davis leads by passionate example,” said Peter Maguire, founder and chair of Fainting Robin Foundation. “This world-class scholar and devoted professor serves as a role model for all engaged academics.”
