Dr. Pamela Balogh’s interest in nursing began in high school, where she took a medical science course that led her to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). "I just fell in love with nursing from that perspective and I knew I wanted to continue in this field,” Balogh said. After graduation, , she quickly started working as a CNA in home settings, which laid the foundation for her future career.

She later received her Associate Degree in Nursing at Cape Fear Community College and worked as a registered nurse at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Eventually, earned both her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing from UNC Wilmington.

Balogh discovered her passion for education early on while tutoring nursing students—a journey that ultimately led her to a faculty position. Reflecting on this experience, she says, “I love education, I love learning, so it just felt right from the start.” Today, Balogh serves as a clinical assistant professor, specializing in graduate-level nursing education. She also contributes to hands-on learning as a nurse practitioner preceptor, guiding students through practical clinical experiences. Additionally, Balogh is actively involved in research and scholarly work, specifically in the field of health equity in vulnerable populations.

In the summer of 2024, she was named as a graduate clinical coordinator for the School of Nursing, where she manages student placements, ensures compliance, and provides support for clinical rotations. “I feel like I'm a member of faculty first and I get to see and work with my students. My heart is with these students, and I really love working with them,” she said.
