UNCW Welcomes New Leadership Honor Society to Campus

UNCW continues to expand opportunities for students to develop leadership skills and career readiness with the launch of a new campus chapter of the Society for Collegiate Leadership & Achievement (SCLA). In March, the Division for Student Affairs in collaboration with SCLA sent invitations to qualified students for spring 2026, giving Seahawks a new way to build skills, connections and confidence for life after graduation.

SCLA is a nationally recognized honor society that focuses on leadership development, professional growth and connecting students to tools that support long-term success. At UNCW, the chapter operates with guidance from Christine Reed Davis, vice chancellor for student affairs, who serves on the SCLA National Advisory Board, and Wakenia George, director of student success and mentoring in campus life, ensuring the experience delivers real value for students.

Participation is optional, but students who join can tap into leadership training, certifications, scholarships, networking opportunities and career-readiness resources designed to help them stand out, both on campus and beyond.

“We’re excited to bring SCLA to UNCW because it encourages students to invest in their personal and professional development,” said Davis. “This organization offers meaningful opportunities to build leadership skills, expand networks and prepare for the world of opportunities available after graduation."

Qualified students will receive an invitation to consider joining SCLA each semester. Students who received an invitation this spring, and students who want to learn more for next year, can explore the UNCW chapter and its benefits on the UNCW SCLA webpage or email Wakenia George.
