UNCW Board of Trustees Statement

As a Board, we are deeply disturbed by the actions that compromised the safety of our campus community.  We are committed to ensuring that those responsible are held fully accountable, and we will continue to support all efforts to protect and uphold the wellbeing of our students, faculty and staff.

As a public institution, we are bound by protocols and policies that may restrict the immediate release of certain information. This does not diminish our commitment to transparency and accountability. The Board will not tolerate anything that compromises the integrity or security of our university.

We commend the administration’s approach to ensuring the safety of our campus community and fully support the actions taken by the university in response to recent incidents on campus. The board stands firmly behind Chancellor Volety’s leadership. We remain committed to doing all that we can to support our students and will continue to work closely with university leadership to foster a secure and supportive environment for all.
