The UNCW men’s rugby club made history this spring, capturing the 2025 Men’s Division II National Championship title at the Collegiate Rugby Championship in Maryland. The Seahawks defeated Montana State, 24-12, in the final match, securing the program’s first national title and capping off a season defined by grit, teamwork and resilience.
The championship weekend showcased the team’s defensive strength and offensive creativity. After a shutout semifinal win over Colorado Mesa, the Seahawks delivered a commanding performance in the final, with standout plays and strong coordination across the field. Club President Marshall Wiseman, who was named finals MVP, scored two tries in the title match, helping to seal the victory and energize the UNCW fan base. His father, Head Coach Jim Wiseman, led the team from the sidelines, making the win a memorable family moment as well as a university triumph.
