The University of North Carolina Wilmington, in collaboration with Cape Fear Community College, is pleased to announce it has launched the Pre-Hawk program. The innovative initiative is aimed at providing CFCC students with a seamless transition to UNCW.

This program allows students to secure their spot at UNCW while completing their Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree at CFCC. Participants will get to familiarize themselves with UNCW campus life and resources, making the transition to UNCW more seamless. Each student is paired with a dedicated UNCW advisor and mentor to help meet transfer requirements and maximize the program’s benefits, including a free class prior to starting at UNCW. The program also fosters a sense of community through special events, academic workshops and social activities at UNCW and CFCC.

“We are excited to partner with our colleagues at CFCC to launch the Pre-Hawk direct-admit program. The program offers an incredible opportunity for high-achieving CFCC students to get engaged in the student experience at UNCW, while getting an exceptional academic experience in their associate's degree program at CFCC,” said Stefanie Norris, director of strategic enrollment initiatives and transfer pathways. “A Pre-Hawk student will be directly admitted to UNCW upon graduation from CFCC and should move seamlessly from one campus to the other with the support of the program manager, faculty and staff on both campuses.”

The Pre-Hawk program offers several advantages, such as early integration into UNCW’s campus, resources and culture, ensuring a smooth transition. Students join a cohort of peers, forming lasting friendships and study partnerships. Additionally, the program sponsors one class at UNCW while students are enrolled at CFCC and provides a one-time $2,000 scholarship during their first year at UNCW.

“CFCC is thrilled about the Pre-Hawk direct admit program and our strong partnership with UNCW,” said Brandon Guthrie, vice president of academic affairs at CFCC. “This program will give our high-performing students a seamless and simplified transfer experience with the unique opportunity to integrate into student life at both campuses.”

The program is ideal for driven students with a minimum 3.2 GPA at CFCC and 12-30 credit hours, who value community and seek an enhanced college experience. Interested students can visit the Pre-Hawk Program webpage for more information and to apply. This is a unique opportunity to start your Seahawk journey early.
