UNCW Monitoring Hurricane Milton

UNCW Alert

UNCW is closely monitoring Hurricane Milton, which is expected to make landfall in Florida this week, according to the latest information from the National Hurricane Center.  Currently, the university plans to maintain its normal operating schedule.

University emergency responders are actively collaborating with New Hanover County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service in Wilmington to track the hurricane’s progress and provide the UNCW community with timely updates.

Area beaches are likely to experience rip currents. Please exercise caution if you visit the beach and continue to monitor local weather and surf updates. Heed beach warning flags for your safety.

Fall Break Travel Advisory
Fall Break for the traditional academic calendar begins on Thursday, Oct. 10. If you are traveling to areas affected by recent storms, please check local conditions and confirm your travel plans before departing.

Weather Safety Procedures
We encourage everyone to review  campus emergency procedures and personal preparation plans. For severe weather guidance and other safety tips, visit the Environmental Health and Safety’s Emergency Management site.
