UNCW Alert System Test Sept. 12

UNCW Test Alert

The UNCW Office of Environmental Health and Safety, UNCW Police Department and the Office of University Relations routinely test the UNCW Alert system to familiarize the campus community with emergency notification procedures and for system maintenance.

The quarterly full-volume UNCW Alert system test (includes the outdoor siren system) will take place at noon on Sept. 12. This is only a test. No action from the campus or community is needed.

UNCW Alert emergency notification system communication tools include:

  • Warning Siren System
  • UNCW homepage, UNCW Alert news page, social media channels
  • Campus emails
  • UNCW Alert text messages and calls
  • Pop-up notifications on university-owned computers

UNCW Police updated the university’s emergency notification system this summer. Contact information for all students, faculty and staff was uploaded to the new system.

In an emergency, the university may issue UNCW Alert text messages, phone calls and/or emails. Please be sure you are relying only on official university messaging during emergency situations. Students, faculty and staff are automatically registered for this service. Reach out to police@uncw.edu to verify, change or delete your number from the system.
