Several creative projects created by UNCW students and staff were recognized at the 45th Telly Awards. The Telly Awards, an institution honoring excellence in video and television globally, features categories each season that reflect the evolution of the video and television industry, and this year’s theme, “Beyond the Frame,” centered on new categories for Generative AI, Thought Leadership, Brand Collaboration and Accessibility.

“It’s always humbling to be recognized by our peers for our work,” said Jesse Bradley, media production director in UNCW’s Office of University Relations (OUR). “This recognition is a testament to our team’s storytelling skill, which shines a light on the outstanding achievements of our students and faculty.”

Projects honored include “UNCW Class of 2023 – Letter Reading,” “Stoney Acres Farm” and “Scrappy Dappy: The Movie.” The winning works were produced by the Department of Communication Studies and OUR.

“It’s such a pleasure to see ‘Game On UNCW: Esports + Education’ continue to receive recognition,” said Bradley Pearce, OUR senior video producer and photographer. “It was an honor to capture and create the letter reading series, showcasing the love our graduating students and their families share with one another.”

“We are thrilled with the ongoing success of our students in competitions like the Telly Awards and the BEA Festival of Media Arts. Our students have gained professional recognition for all phases of video production from discerning, professional judges,” said Bill Bolduc, professor emeritus of Communication Studies. “While we don’t create our videos for the awards, The Tellys and the BEA awards indicate that our student work is being done at a very high level from start to finish.”
