Cynthia Demetriou, associate provost for Student Engagement, Enrollment, and Retention (SEER), has been selected as a Fulbright U.S. Scholar, awarded by the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Program. Demetriou will visit Caen, Le Havre and Paris, France in October, to participate in the U.S.-France International Education Administrators Program.

“UNCW continues to invest in regionally relevant and globally significant programs that attract students locally, nationally and internationally,” said Demetriou. "I look forward to the opportunities through Fulbright to make meaningful connections and learn about the societal, cultural and higher education systems of the host country. I believe I will return with an enhanced ability to build better partnerships, better serve our students and further strengthen our enrollment processes and practices.”

As the chief enrollment officer for UNCW and associate provost for seven reporting units, Demetriou carries out strategies and programming for student recruitment, admissions, enrollment, retention and degree completion.

While in France, Demetriou will participate in a two-week group seminar, as one of 14 participants across the United States in higher education leadership. Topics will familiarize U.S. participants with French higher education and research. The agenda will include information sessions, campus visits, meetings with government officials and higher education experts and networking events.
