High Risk of Rip Currents Along the East Coast from Hurricane Lee  

National Weather Service forecasts indicate an increased risk of rip currents along the beaches near UNCW’s main campus due to Hurricane Lee. Based on NWS forecast models, the storm is expected to pass by our area, but dangerous surf conditions are expected along beaches near campus.  

The university will continue to monitor Hurricane Lee, but we do not anticipate the need for additional weather messages at this time. If conditions change, please monitor UNCW inboxes, the UNCW homepage and social media feeds Facebook and X (Twitter) for updates.
