Seahawk Student-Athletes Excel Academically

UNCW’s 346 student-athletes concluded the 2022-23 school year with another outstanding finish in the classroom for the second semester.

The program’s student-athletes across 19 intercollegiate teams compiled an impressive 3.402 cumulative grade point average.

A total of 276 (79 percent) student-athletes earned a 3.0 GPA or better. Eighteen teams posted at least a 3.0 GPA.

Overall, 68 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA in the second semester.

“We are so proud of the academic excellence achieved by the Seahawk student-athletes this semester,” said Dr. Shannon Pease, Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Support Services. “They continue to surpass the high expectations the department places on them. It is a testament to their ability to successfully balance both their athletic and academic commitments.”

The women’s tennis team posted the highest team GPA among the teams at 3.879, while the women’s cross country team ranked second at 3.709. The women’s swimming and diving team, which won its first Colonial Athletic Association championship since 2006, finished third at 3.657.
