Dr. Jeanine Mingé, Associate Provost for Community Engagement and Impact, has accepted the position of Associate Dean for the College of Arts and Humanities at West Chester University. Founded in 1871 and enrolling more than 17,000 students, WCU is the largest member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. Dr. Mingé, who joined UNCW in 2019, will leave her current position on June 19.
“UNCW’s engagement with the community, both locally and regionally, is dedicated to strengthening a bridge between campus and community members. During Dr. Mingé’s tenure, multiple innovative initiatives have grown, including national recognition such as the recent APLU Innovation & Economic Prosperity University designation. Her leadership has increased UNCW’s position as a campus that is focused on engaging with the community through impactful opportunities,” said Provost James J. Winebrake. “I thank Dr. Mingé for her leadership and wish her the very best in her new role with WCU.”
Despite challenges that accompanied consecutive years of extreme weather systems and a public health crisis, Dr. Mingé rose above with innovative ways to support the university’s commitment to expand community engagement as a pillar of the figurative campus “front porch.” She served as executive director for the Office of the Arts, contributed as co-principal investigator on a Teagle Foundation grant for the FREED Project, led the renovation of Truist Hall into a welcoming campus building for interaction with the community, produced a magazine to showcase work across campus, developed the Equity Initiative with faculty, revived service-oriented Wings Up Wilmington, collaborated with Student Affairs on GIVEPULSE software for community partners and campus members to connect with each other, led the incorporation of community engagement activities in UNCW faculty reporting software, and more.
“It has been my true honor to serve UNCW and the surrounding community for the past four years,” said Dr. Mingé. “I am humbled to have worked alongside such brilliant colleagues, supportive leadership, passionate community partners, and stellar teams in the Office of the Arts and Community Engagement and Impact. Thank you all for the opportunity to be a part of UNCW – you will be missed. I look forward to the next phase of my career, joining the College of Arts and Humanities at West Chester University, and continuing to pursue excellence in higher education.”
