A Time Like No Other: UNCW Celebrates Fall 2022 Graduates Dec. 16-17

UNCW began the 2022-23 academic year celebrating its 75th anniversary and welcoming a new chancellor. It closed 2022 by graduating 2,442 students (1,649 undergraduate, 772 master’s and 21 doctoral) during its one-hundred-and-third commencement exercises Dec. 16-17. All ceremonies were held in Trask Coliseum and were accessible via livestream.   

UNCW Chancellor Aswani K. Volety gave welcoming remarks and presided over the ceremonies, his first as the university’s leader. College keynote speakers were:

  • Cameron School of Business and Watson College of Education: Dr. Charles Foust, New Hanover County Schools Superintendent   
  • College of Arts and Sciences: Morgan C. Jackson ’96, Nexus Strategies Co-founder and Partner
  • College of Health and Human Services: Dr. Phillip M. Brown Jr. ’88, Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center Executive President and Chief Physician Executive
