UNCW Announces Additional “Drop-In” Vaccine Clinic Dates
Monday, October 18, 2021
UNCW’s Student Health Center will host a series of “drop-in” vaccine clinics over the next two weeks. Students, faculty, staff and community members interested in receiving a vaccine are encouraged to attend. The university COVID-19 Campus Vaccination Clinic will be held on the dates below. No appointment is necessary, and all are welcome. There is no cost to be vaccinated.
The clinics will be held:
- Wednesday, Oct. 20 from 8:30-11:30 a.m., Warwick Center (Pfizer and J&J)
- Friday, Oct. 22 from 1-4 p.m., Student Health Center(Pfizer and J&J)
- Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 1-4 p.m., Warwick Center (Pfizer and J&J)
- Friday, Oct. 29 from 8:30-11:30 a.m., Student Health Center (Pfizer and J&J)
UNCW will be administering the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, approved for those at least 18 years of age. This vaccine requires only a single dose, which means recipients are considered “fully vaccinated” two weeks after receiving it. University officials were able to procure a small amount of J&J vaccine, which will be available while supplies last.
The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will also be administered on a first-come, first-served basis. The university is offering this vaccine to community members 17 and older. This is a two-dose vaccine and will require you to schedule a second dose three weeks after the first dose. After receiving the vaccine, you will need to remain in the Warwick Center for 15 minutes.
COVID-19 vaccine booster shots are available for the following Pfizer vaccine recipients who completed their initial series at least six months ago:
- 65 years and older
- 18+ who have underlying medical conditions
- 18+ who work in high-risk settings
- 18+ who live in high-risk settings
For more information about booster eligibility, visit the CDC website.
We are closely monitoring the discussions on the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccine boosters. Once fully approved, we will provide more detail on how and when boosters for these two vaccines will be available.
