Seahawks Rising: UNCW Alumni, Employees Among 40 Under 40 Award Winners

Fifteen of this year’s 40 Under 40 Award winners are Seahawks. Presented annually by the StarNews and the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce, the awards recognize the region’s young professionals who are making a name for themselves, their businesses and workplaces. A six-member panel selected the winners from Brunswick, New Hanover and Pender counties who excel in their professional fields and contribute to community organizations.

Marissa Bryant Franks ’21M, health equity outreach coordinator, Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center 

Karin Kassab ’07, ’10M, psychologist and founder, Clarity Counseling Center 

Manuel Christopher Lloyd ’17, cultural enrichment program coordinator, UNCW Upperman African American Cultural Center

Emmanuel Mitcham ’20C, ’20M, marketing and communications specialist, UNCW Office of Community Engagement and Applied Learning

Chris Montero ’12, ’16M, co-founder and operations and sales director, Perfect Touch Rental

The 2021 honorees will be honored at an event on Sept. 30 at the Brooklyn Arts Center.
