A new award has been added to the UNCW Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni awards, which are presented each year during Homecoming. The Distinguished Diversity Award will be presented to an individual who has made exceptional contributions in the areas of diversity, equity, access, inclusion and social justice.

“This award was established by the UNCW Alumni Association Board of Directors, as a lead supporter of the university’s strategic vision, to help strengthen the university’s commitment to diversity and inclusion,” said Lindsay LeRoy, executive director of the Alumni Association.

Diversity and inclusion are key components of UNCW’s Strategic Plan, and the Alumni Association wanted to add an award that celebrates individuals who embody those values. Visit this web page to nominate someone for the new award.

Dec. 1, 2020 is the deadline to nominate someone for the first Distinguished Diversity Award, as well as Distinguished Alumnus/a, Young Alumnus/a and Distinguished Citizen of the Year. More information can be found here.

The Alumni Association’s annual awards recognize UNCW alumni and friends for outstanding achievements and service to the university and the community.
