Dear Campus Community:

It has been just over two weeks since the passing of Vice Chancellor Pat Leonard, and we have already felt her absence in so many ways. It remains unthinkable that we will be starting a new academic year without her, but we all know she will be with us in spirit.

We are fortunate to be able to name Associate Vice Chancellor Brian Victor as the Interim Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Dr. Victor has been with the university for 10 years and has been integral to the continuity of student support over the past few very difficult months, in collaboration with Dean of Students Mike Walker and other leaders in Student Affairs. I am very grateful for their ongoing hard work, and confident that Vice Chancellor Leonard’s legacy of dedication and Seahawk spirit will be very well preserved by Dr. Victor as he takes on this new role. His experience in helping to thoughtfully and efficiently guide an approach that unifies the many objectives and services of the Division of Student Affairs will be a terrific asset as we continue to plan and prepare for your return to campus.

I expect to share information after the start of the fall semester regarding a search to fill the Vice Chancellor role permanently. In the meantime, please join me in thanking Dr. Victor for his continued service and leadership.
