Eight UNCW athletic teams have received Public Recognition Awards from the NCAA for placing among the top 10 percent nationally in the classroom.

In the latest round of Academic Progress Rate results, the governing body of college athletics recognized UNCW's men's cross country, men's soccer, women's cross country, women's golf, women's beach volleyball, women's swimming and diving, women's tennis and women's volleyball teams.
 
The NCAA honored nearly 1,400 Division I teams on Tuesday with Public Recognition Awards for their latest multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores. The teams recorded multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports
