Notice: Impacts of State, County Orders

Monday, March 30, 2020

On Friday, Governor Roy Cooper issued a stay-at-home order in an effort to help mitigate the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in North Carolina. The statewide order will be in effect through April 30, 2020. Shortly after that, New Hanover County issued additional restrictions, which will be in effect until April 14, 2020. You can learn more about the statewide order here, and the New Hanover County order here. (People in North Carolina must abide by the statewide order; to the extent that a local order contains more restrictive requirements, the more restrictive local order must be followed.)

As has been the case since the activation of teleworking, only those employees whose physical presence is required to ensure the life, health or safety of the students currently in residence halls or to maintain essential operations or infrastructure will be working on campus. Employees who have been previously notified of their mandatory status will continue to report as required, unless otherwise notified by their supervisors. Any students remaining in on-campus housing must abide by all state and county orders and may direct questions or requests for support to the desk receptionist at the Village Clubhouse (910.962.8872).

With teleworking and online/alternate course delivery already in place, minimal impact to the university is expected. Should university operations be significantly affected, campus will be notified via email. Thank you for your continued attention.
