Wednesday, October 16, 2019

Kellie Griggs, an associate professor in the School of Nursing, was among the women selected as 2019 WILMA Women to Watch Award winners.

The annual awards honor achievements in the areas of business, rising star, health care, arts, nonprofit/volunteer, public service and education. This year, 35 finalists were recognized, and the winner for each category was announced at a reception on Oct. 11. Griggs was the award recipient in the education category.

Griggs joined UNCW’s School of Nursing in 2016 and is the maternal/infant course co-coordinator. Her scholarly focus is on high-risk obstetrics and nursing empowerment, and she serves as a nursing consultant surrounding high-risk OB best practices and policy. Griggs was also recently elected to the National Board of Directors for the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses.
