Melinda Anderson Elected to NACADA Board of Directors

Melinda Anderson, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Director of University College, has been elected to the Board of Directors for NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising.  Anderson will assume the leadership role at the 2019 NACADA Annual Conference in October in Louisville, KY. Her term expires October 2022.
 
“This is a true tribute to Dr. Melinda Anderson’s leadership at UNCW,” said Provost Marilyn Sheerer. “She has, in every way, promoted quality academic advising on our campus and has worked to provide professional development around a strong advisement model and process.”
 
The Global Community for Academic Advising, a nonprofit organization chartered in 1979, promotes quality academic advising and professional development of its membership to ensure the educational development of students. NACADA has more than 14,000 members consisting of faculty members, professional advisors, administrators, counselors and others in academic and student affairs concerned with the intellectual, personal and vocational needs of students. The organization is also the representative and advocate of academic advising and those providing that service to higher education.
