UNCW Homecoming 2018: A Time to Cheer, a Time to Toast, a Time to Come Home

Thursday, February 01, 2018

Whether your diploma says Wilmington College or UNCW, it’s time for Seahawks to return to the nest for UNCW’s annual Homecoming celebration, Feb. 9-11.

From alumni reunions to zip lining to cultural and sporting events, the weekend offers plenty of Seahawk fun for the entire family. Many events require registration and/or tickets, but most activities are free and open to all. Please note that tickets for this year's TEALgate are sold out and walk-up registrations are not available. Online registration for signature alumni events including the Alumni Champagne Brunch, Student Affairs Reunion, Men's Basketball game and African American Graduate Association Luncheon ends Sunday, Feb. 4. For a full listing of events and to register, visit uncw.edu/homecoming.

“With this being UNCW’s 70th anniversary year and our alumni base approaching 80,000 proud, there is no better time to return to your alma mater,” said Lindsay LeRoy, director of alumni relations and executive director of the UNCW Alumni Association. “Whether you were on campus last week or last year, bring your friends and family to reminisce and reconnect with your Seahawk family.”

The UNCW Alumni Association will recognize four individuals for their outstanding achievements and services to the university and community. This year’s Distinguished Alumni Award 2018 honorees are:

Distinguished Young Alumna of the Year
Rachael Beatty '13

Distinguished Alumnus of the Year
Brandon Beane '98

Distinguished Citizens of the Year
Amy and Ben Wright '98

The UNCW Association for Campus Entertainment is hosting student spirit events throughout the week, including a late-night breakfast on Feb. 5. Click here for more information on student events and the bios of the 2018 Homecoming Court.

The UNCW Bookstore will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday and offering an additional 50 percent off of clearance items. While there, pick up a copy Giving Flight to Imagination: 70 Years of Excellence, a commemorative book written by Thomas R. Hart, a lecturer in the Department of History. The author will be signing copies of the book from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
