UNCW Monitoring Winter Weather Conditions in the Area
Wednesday, January 17, 2018
According to the National Weather Service, significant winter weather impacts are not likely in the Wilmington area, but there is always the possibility of icy/snowy bridges, underpasses and roadways. Please use caution and your best judgement when traveling to and from the campus tonight (Wednesday, Jan. 17) and Thursday (Jan. 18) morning. UNCW will continue to monitor winter weather conditions overnight as a precaution, but the university does not anticipate cancellations or delays.
Students who will be absent from scheduled classes due to weather conditions should contact their instructors. Students enrolled in online programs should contact their instructors with questions about how inclement weather in their areas may affect their schedules. Students enrolled in courses at the university’s Onslow County extension site should follow Coastal Carolina Community College’s schedule.
Faculty and staff should refer to the Adverse Weather Policy (Condition 1) to determine their best personal course of action.
Updates will be posted as needed to the UNCW homepage, Facebook and Twitter. These sources of information contain the latest information available to university officials. Monitor your campus email inboxes; messages with a reference to the weather in the subject line merit careful review.
